At the Red Carpet

The Metropolitan Museum of Art's new exhibit, American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity was the theme for yesterday's Met Gala. So naturally, American labels are well-represented on the red carpet. Here are the starlets that caught our eye on this year's red carpet.

Premium denim and accessories brand Rock & Republic filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in a Manhattan courthouse last night. In the words of the company, this decision was made in order to "ease pressures on its balance sheet."

Rock & Republic will keep operating under Chapter 11 protection while trying to reorganize the company with the help of several outside resources.

The American label, founded by Michael Ball in 2002, joins bankruptcy-laden fashion houses including Yohji Yamamoto, Escada, and Christian Lacroix.
